There is no shortage of beautiful house photography online. There is a real shortage of anyone telling you what those houses cost to build, how the cladding behaves after ten summers, or which decision you cannot undo later.
That gap is why Houselow exists. Every article here starts from a decision someone actually has to make — wheels or foundation, paint or charred wood, this climate or that one — and works through it with real numbers and real trade-offs. If something looks great and performs badly, that goes in the article too.

How the articles are made
Figures are researched from current industry sources and given as ranges, because real costs vary by region, slope, climate and contractor. Where the data is thin or contested — tiny-house resale values, for instance, or the resale effect of a fully black facade — that is stated plainly rather than smoothed over. A confident number you cannot rely on is worse than an honest range.
Prices are given in US dollars and regulations reference US practice, since that is where most readers are building. The physics and the material behaviour travel anywhere.
